A thirtieth birthday in a hired function room just outside St Albans — the kind of booking where the booth has to earn its place, because the room is not large and everything in it has to be worth the floor space.

The setup

The white classic booth went in against the far wall, opposite the bar, so the queue formed naturally along a side that was not being used for anything else. Set up ran during the buffet, which meant the booth was live from the moment the music started.

A 21st Birthday Bash

A twenty-first in a banqueting suite, with the lights down and a guest list twice the size of the average birthday. This is the sort of event the LED booth was bought for.

The setup

The room was dark by design, which makes photography difficult and makes a glowing booth impossible to ignore. The LED shell was set to a single colour picked to match the room’s uplighters, and it worked as much as a light source as a photo booth.

A Country House Wedding

A country house wedding where the couple wanted the booth to look like part of the room rather than a piece of equipment parked in the corner. That is a good brief for the Magic Mirror.

The setup

The mirror went in beside the dance floor, framed by the venue’s own greenery. Because it is a full-length mirror with no curtain or box, it read as décor from across the room. Set up ran during the wedding breakfast so the first guests to leave the tables found it already running.

A Marquee Wedding in Kent

A marquee wedding on private land in Kent, with the camper parked on the grass just outside the entrance. Booked partly as a photo booth and partly as something for guests to photograph on their way in — it does both jobs.

Access

The main planning job on a booking like this happens before the day: agreeing where the camper can park, checking the ground is firm enough, and making sure nothing has to be driven across a lawn after rain. We spoke to the marquee company directly, which is usually quicker than passing messages through the couple.
